Project Summary
After reviewing driver feedback and system requirements from the 2025 season,I designed a new driver dash layout and housing to improve ergonomics and to interface with the new steering column support tubes. The project focused on sourcing and specifying all required electronic hardware while packaging components within strict space, visibility, and reliability constraints.
In addition to developing the physical layout and enclosure, emphasis was placed on intuitive control placement to enhance driver performance and comfort. The resulting dash design has been validated and is planned for implementation on the VM26E.
Design Requirements
Visibility: Must ensure screen, warning lights, and other controls are clearly visible to the driver
Packaging: Fits within steering column support tubes while containing all necessary electrical components
Rules Compliance: Contains all warning lights/shutoff switches as required by FSAE rules
