Project Highlights
Developed an upper steering system to transition from a bevel box to a double U-joint setup to improve packaging efficiency and reduce backlash. Analyzed human dynamometer data, seating positions, and angular misalignment to inform design decisions. Iteratively refined joint placement and shaft geometry to maintain constant velocity steering.
Worked in a group of five to design and build a compact potential-energy–powered racer using SolidWorks, iterating through multiple drivetrain concepts to meet strict size, mass, and component constraints. Leveraged 3D printing and rapid prototyping to quickly evaluate design iterations, integrate standardized components, and maximize competition performance.
Designed a low-cost, attachable LED signaling system to improve nighttime visibility and safety for wheelchair users crossing streets. Integrated Arduino-based electronics, sequential LED control, and a lightweight mounting solution optimized for accessibility and ease of use. Validated structural integrity through FEA and user feedback, resulting in a durable, manufacturable assistive device addressing a real-world safety problem.
